The socialization of your dog is not the responsibility of dog walkers.
Adding a dog to group walks is a common request from new clients seeking to enhance their pet’s socialization. Whenever you ask us, the response is always no, and we’ll tell you why:
1) After a dog reaches four months of age, socialization is not an option. There is an information technology (IT) socialization period that lasts for 16 weeks. That is why, if you are fortunate enough to have a puppy of that age, you must ensure that it is correctly exposed to a wide variety of stimuli, particularly those that you wish it would tolerate. Vehicles, kids, congested city streets, etc. Introduce each of these things gradually to your dog.Ensure every interaction is positive; it’s up to you. When dogs are young, they are particularly vulnerable to the kinds of long-term stress and fear that are extremely difficult to overcome. Difficult, but not impossible.
2) We don’t provide training; we stroll dogs. Walking your dog, letting them out to relieve themselves, socializing them away from the sofa, and ensuring their safety are all our responsibilities. We are not here to help you with your dog’s training, reinforce good behavior, or socialize an aggressive dog. Dogs are a big part of my team. We do not practice behaviorism or training. Other companies offer training walks, and their rates appear to be significantly different from ours.
Schedule one-on-one walks with your dog walker if your dog is reactive or extremely selective. You shouldn’t put your dog, other dogs, or the dog walker in danger just so your dog can get along with them. Or to cut costs.
